Leading actors – The Personal Planets, Sun – Moon – Saturn
Having safely birthed into reality the first thing we do is let the world know we’re here with a roaring scream as held upside down by our ankles a round smack is delivered to our bare bottom to clear our lungs so we begin to breath. Only then are we given into the hands of nurturing care. In this one small moment our Sun, Moon and Saturn come into play. Although done to assure we live, our inner response to this event can color how we think and feel about life, and this in turn affects the way our physical bodies respond to it.
Our Sun
Identifies with those it sees as mirroring individuality and not wanting to be undervalued strives for recognition. But what of those mirrors and those who mirrored for them through the generations now past? Most of us were born to average circumstance, not as sons or daughters of Kings and Queens, and yet within us all lies an innate desire to fulfill our real potential and let ‘Our Star Shine Out’ among our peers.
Our Moon
Requires contact with others and needs to have its feelings validated. But how did we get those needs met in a single parent family or when both parents had to work just to keep a roof over our heads. Then again it could be that they gave us all the material things life could offer but were to preoccupied with their own interests to listen to us when we needed to share our thoughts or gain their advice?
Our Saturn
Is the inner voice of the parent who, concerned for our welfare taught us the rules of social behaviour and how to stay safe. But was that voice friendly or abusive, and did harsh corporeal punishment or berating lectures accompany those lessons in behaviour modification?
Still
Do not fault your parents here. Some of us like our parents and some of us don’t, but the vast majority of us were raised by parents who loved us and did the best they could in the ways that they knew how. What’s more we tend to continue the patterns we were taught when raising our own children unless we make a conscious effort to change them. In fact the Bible relates what psychologists understand well today .. the sins of the father are passed on to the sons (daughters as well). Religious intolerance and racial prejudice fall easily into this category.
The most important task
What is needed here is to bring all three factors into balance. Quite often one or more is over or under developed which results in a lopsided point of view. Perhaps your physical safety was something an over protective parent focused on or you were told to maintain a stiff upper lip in even the most adverse emotional crisis.
To achieve this you must get to know these planet functions.
The Sun
- Please take a moment to reflect. Do you proudly accept well earned recognition or let others take credit for your efforts? Do you make decisions or fence sit hoping for the right outcome? When you look inwards is your self worth bucket golden and full to brimming over or a rusty one, only half full?
The Moon
- Reflect again if you will. Do you share your innermost feelings with ease or keep everything locked deep within and behind a tightly closed door? Do you squirm in your seat when someone pays you a compliment or bask in the limelight?
Saturn
- Please reflect one last time, but this time listen to your inner self. Do you hear a gentle guiding voice or is it a harsh one that berates you with — you should’s .. you can’ts .. you’re stupid .. you’re a failure etc, etc?
The Play
Although you didn’t write this script you can control how it continues to play out in your life. You’re the director now and you can change the way this dynamic trio play their roles.
